A SEQUENCE USES ONE SUIT
5♥, 6♥, 7♥ forms a sequence: the ranks are consecutive and the suit stays the same. 5♥, 6♣, 7♥ does not form that sequence because the middle card has a different suit. A group without a joker substitution is commonly called a pure sequence; follow the chosen variant’s definition.
A SET USES ONE RANK
7♥, 7♣, 7♠ forms a set of matching ranks in different suits. The 7♥, 8♥, 9♥ group is a sequence instead. Do not confuse matching card values with matching suits.
PRACTICE CHECK
| Cards | What to notice |
|---|---|
| 3♣ 4♣ 5♣ | Consecutive ranks, one suit: sequence. |
| Q♥ Q♣ Q♠ | One rank, different suits: set. |
| 3♣ 5♣ 6♣ | One suit, but a missing rank: not a complete sequence. |
ONE GROUP IS NOT A FULL DECLARATION
Read the table’s requirements for the number of sequences, permitted joker use, card count and scoring. A valid group does not guarantee a valid hand. Check every card and the complete arrangement before declaring. Examples here explain group structure only; the rules shown by the game take priority.
